RACI Matrix Generator
Click a cell to cycle through R, A, C, I and A/R. The validator flags missing or duplicate Accountables, unowned work and overloaded people as you go.
Key: R Responsible · A Accountable · C Consulted · I Informed · A/R both.
Five RACI rules that prevent confusion
- Exactly one A per row. Shared accountability means no accountability.
- At least one R per row. Someone must actually do the work.
- Keep C small. Every Consulted person adds a review cycle.
- Use roles, not names, for reusable templates; add names in the project version.
- Review it at kickoff. A RACI nobody has agreed to is a wish list.

Frequently asked questions
What does RACI stand for?
Responsible (does the work), Accountable (owns the outcome and signs off — exactly one per task), Consulted (gives input before the work is done; two-way) and Informed (kept up to date; one-way).
Can one person be both Responsible and Accountable?
Yes — that is common for smaller tasks and is shown as A/R.
What are RACI alternatives?
RASCI adds Support; DACI (Driver, Approver, Contributor, Informed) is popular for decisions; RAPID is used for complex organisational decisions.
